LIVED IN STORY HALF A CENTURY

S. F. Griffin, Pioneer, Passes to Great Beyond Yesterday Evening.

S. F. Griffin, for over half a century a resident of Story county, died at his home in this city last evening at half after six, after an illness which has lasted over a period of several months, from complications incident to old age. The deceased was over seventy-four years of age at the time of his death. The funeral services will be conducted at the Baptist church tomorrow afternoon at 2:00, by Rev. Fowle of the Baptist church of Ames.

The deceased was born in Otsego county, N. Y., and moved to Iowa in the early fifties. He settled on a farm north-west of Colo where he raised a large family of children and continued to reside until September of last year, when he bought a property in this city and occupied it.

He leaves a wife and seven children. The children are Mrs. Ada Brunson of Clark, Neb., Delbert Griffin of this city, Mrs. Ella Hines of this city, Jasper Griffin, who lives on the old homestead, Mrs. Alta Hansen of near McCallsburg, and Mesdames Elva Townes [should be Town] and Mary Elmore of this city.

The deceased became a member of the Baptist church in his boyhood and has ever clung tenaciously to the faith. He had many warm friends in the neighborhood where he spent the greater part of his life.
