Services for area deaths

MRS. CORA B. VANGNESS

Mrs. Cora B. Vangness, 79, of Story City died Thursday morning at Story City Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1894 at Roland, to Nelius and Ellen Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, and married Oscar Vangness on Mary 10, 1916

The funeral will be Monday, Dec. 24 at 1 p.m. in St. Petri Lutheran Church with Rev. Rhuben O. Aga officiating, burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters in Des Moines, Mrs. Dorothy Couch and Mrs. Judith Johnson; one son, Leslie of Story City, a grandson (whom she was legal guardian for) Danny Vangness, in Thailand in the Air Force, six grandchildren. Also three sisters, Mrs. Alma Pearson and Mrs. Blanche Ritchie, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Emily Rasmussen of Jewell and one brother, Clarence Nelson of Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, two sisters, and one brother. Her body will lie in state from Sunday until the time of service at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
