THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, December 27, 1906, page _, column 3. "DEATH OF GEO. SHRYOCK - George Shryock was born in Indiana August 13, 1831; died at the home of his son, O. M. Shryock, in Maxwell, at 9:15 o'clock Tuesday evening, December 25, 1906, aged 75 years, 4 months and 12 days. Mrs. Shryock was united in marriage with Miss Theodosie Holmes in 1856. To this union ten children were born, seven of whom with the aged wife survive the deceased and mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father. The sons, four in number, are Charles, now living in San Francisco, Fay and Lester, of Rhodes and Oliver M. of Maxwell. The daughters are Mrs. Blanche Crawford, of Rhodes, Mrs. Lulu Davis, of Zearing and Mrs. Bertha Thompson of Scranton. Mr. Shryock came to Iowa in 1863 and has resided in Rhodes the last years of a busy life. Mrs. Shryock has been ill since a year ago last November, and at many times his life has been on the threshold of death. He was a patient sufferer until the end, optimistic in his hopes of a complete recovery. The funeral services will be held in Rhodes at 11 o'clock this (Thursday) morning. Rev. Huddleston officiating. Interment in Rhodes Cemetery."
