Services for area deaths

REV. JOHN REX

Rev. John F. Rex, 88, of 122 Howard Ave., Ames, died at the Evangelical Free Church Home at Boone Saturday. He was born September 19, 1885 in Warren, Ohio.

His ministry began in 1912 when he served in the Cambridge and Mackey churches. His other church charges were in Wellman, Ottumwa, Guthrie Center, Knoxville, Grand Junction, and Colo.

He also served for four terms as a director member of the board of directors of the Iowa Methodist Hospital and belonged to Tabernacle Lodge, 452 AF and AM of Cambridge.

He was married to Alta Reineke of Farmington June 26, 1912, who preceded him in death May 11, 1967.

Survivors are one son, Rev. Wendell S. Rex of Appleton, Wisc., and a daughter Wanda Rex of Ames. He has one sister, Mrs. LaRena Klug of Rocky Ford, Colo., two granddaughters, and one great-grandson

Funeral services are Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Wendell Rex officiating. Burial will be in the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames.

There has been a memorial established for the Mackey United Methodist Church and gifts may be left at the First National Bank in Ames.
