Services for area deaths

GEORGE J VALLEM

George J. Vallem, age 87 died at Oak Park Manor in Nevada on Tuesday, Nov. 13. A former resident of McCallsburg, Vallem died after a lengthy illness.

Services will be Friday, Nov. 16 at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Rev. Olaf Holen will officiate and burial will be in the McCallsburg Cemetery. Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of the arrangements.

Vallem was born April 25, 1886 at Garden City. He married Alma Lura in Garden City February 26, 1909 and they farmed near McCallsburg for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Alma of Oak Park Manor and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Maxine Hulse of Des Moines and two sons, Kenneth of Davenport and Gerald of McCallsburg, six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Orville and Raymond.
