THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 10, 1913, page 1. "OBITUARY - Grace Moore was born near Iowa Center, Iowa, December 10, 1882, and died Wednesday morning, July 2, 1913. She was married to Robert P. Shepard, then of Evanston Ill., July 14, 1906. To them was born one son, Robert Oliver Shepard, who with her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Ammerman of Clayton, N. Mex., and Mrs. Leda Childs, of Nevada, Iowa, survive her. Mrs. Shepard grew to womanhood in the neighborhood of her birth, attending the public schools and later the high school of Nevada and the academy of Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill., where she afterwards specialized in vocal music. Her religious life was of a high character, bringing to her comfort and courage in her struggle with disease. She was converted at about fifteen years of age and united with the Jefferson M. E. Church of which she has been a faithful and consistent member till the time of her death. On March 10, 1911, her health having become impaired, she removed with her husband to Clayton, N. Mex., hoping the change in climate would restore her health. It was soon discovered that neither the skill of physicians not the care of loving friends could repair the ravages of disease and after two and one-half years of patient and intense suffering, she passed peacefully out of this life into the beyond, where her Saviour holds the key, into whose care she fearlessly commits her soul."
