THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, September 17, 1925, page 1. "DEATH CLAIMS THREE DURING PAST WEEK - MARION W. SCOTT, MRS. CHAS. LONG AND MRS. J. O. GARDINER CALLED BY DEATH - Marion W. Scott - Marion Wesley Scott was born December 26, 1898, on a farm in Polk county, Iowa, and departed this life September 8, 1925, at the age of twenty-six years, eight months and twelve days. Until a year ago he resided on the farm with his mother, at which time he entered the Barber college in Des Moines and at the time of his death was employed at his trade in Eagle Grove. On May 11, 1925, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucile Wolf, of Maxwell, at Rochester, Minn. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, mother, seven brothers and three sisters. The brothers are: Cecil, of Des Moines; Glen, Lisle, Forest, Burness, Dale and Arnold, and the sisters, Laura Pearson, Marie Cook and Alice Higgs, all of Maxwell. His father preceded him in death fifteen years ago. Few deaths could come to our community bringing with it more of a shock and universal regret, of a personality that was clean and wholesome and imbued with the moral precepts of a home which holds reverence for all that is good. His life was an example, his thoughts were pure and his work exemplified the practical application of Christian fortitude and service. Marion early gave his heart to the Master and in this service found that delight which only those who believe can know. He was always cheerful and with a joy for the companionship of his kind. He was held high in the affections of those about him. To those bowed low in mourning in this sad hour, must come some consolation born of the knowledge that in life he prepared for death. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Thursday afternoon in charge of the local pastor, DeLoss Marken, assisted by Rev. B. A. Gann, of Perry, and Rev. H. D. Robinson, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Miss Opal Mae Nelson, evangelist singer, who had charge of the singing here last spring during the revival meetings, furnished the singing. She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Hugh Fertig. Six cousins of the deceased were pall bearers, Willis Scott, Horace Scott, James Olinger, Claire Olinger, Ralph Cooper and Vaughn Ray. Interment was made in the Maxwell cemetery by the side of his father. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the friends and neighbors for the kindly assistance tendered during our bereavement, and for the beautiful floral tributes. Mrs. Marion Scott, Mrs. J. D. Scott and Children."
