Julius Thompson Is Dead at Age 64

Julius Thompson, 64, died Christmas eve of a heart attack in his home in McCallsburg.

Thompson, whose body was discovered early Christmas morning, was lying about 30 feet from the trailer home in which he lived. Deputy Sheriff John Stark was called to the scene by a McCallsburg physician who had been notified. Death was due to exposure, according to the medical report. Thompson had been dead approximately five hours when discovered.

Thompson was born south of Roland March 23, 1902 the son of Thomas and Josephine Thompson. He lived his entire life in Roland and McCallsburg area. He was single and worked as a farmer, tiler and recently at the Ellsworth Turkey Plant.

Survivors include four brothers, Maurice of Roland, Earl of Ames, Herman of Ottumwa and Francis of Maxwell, four sisters, Mrs. Oscar Chelsvig of Roland, Mrs. Clifton Harrendorf and Mrs. Earl Bernard both of State Center and Mrs. Oran Meyer of Marshalltown.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Sanford.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg with the Rev. Terry Heller officiating. Burial will be in the McCallsburg cemetery and the body lies in state at the Pursell-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown.
