Homer Lee, 3 died during heart surgery
Homer Lee, three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lee of Roland, died at University Hospital in Iowa City Thursday afternoon last week while undergoing corrective heart surgery. The youngster had undergone a successful operation when he was less than one year old.
The funeral service was held in Salem Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 3, with Pastor Everett Nelson officiating. Mrs. Cyrus Christian and Mrs. Frank Kaltenheuser sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Children of the Heavenly Father".
Interment was in the Roland Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Frey, Ralph Brodie, Edward Smith and Ernest Beach.
Homer John Lee, son of John and June Lee, was born in Story City, Iowa on November 4, 1963, and passed away during heart surgery at the University Hospital in Iowa City on December 1, 1966.
Homer was baptized in Salem Lutheran Church on December 15, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Homer Beach and Virgil Lee.
He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Allen and James; his grandmothers, Mrs. Hazel Beach of Story City and Mrs. Jean Lee of Roland; and his great-grandparents, Knut Stensland of Nevada, Mrs. Maude Garmen of Gravette, Arkansas, Mrs. Dora Van Patter of Roland, and Mrs. Ida Lee of Ames.
