Otto Hanson Dies At Hospital: Had Been Ill Five Days
Otto James Hanson, Roland, died at 12:45 a.m. this morning (Monday) at the Story City Hospital where he had been a patient five days. He suffered from asthma and had had a stroke.
He was born November 22, 1892, the son of O. T. and Ida Hanson, and was World War I veteran. Hanson farmed northwest of Roland until 1958 when he retired and moved to Roland.
Funeral services are set for Wednesday August 31 at 2 p.m. at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland with Pastor Howard M. Lybeck in charge. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland from noon Tuesday until noon Wednesday.
Survivors are his wife, Alma, of Roland, three sons, James of Roland, Harley of Burt and Normand of LeRoy, Minn., four grandchildren, a brother, Elmer, Story City, three sisters, Mrs. Severie Parker and Lillian Hanson, both of Roland and Mrs. Arthur (Irene) Johnson of Fullerson, Calif.
