Osmund Mortvedt Dies at age 80

Osmund A. Mortvedt, 80, of Story City died suddenly at Story City Memorial Hospital Monday night.

Born June 15, 1887 in Hamilton County, he was the son of Oscar and Serina Mortvedt. He had farmed north of Story City most of his life and retired in 1957. He had moved to Story City five years ago.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City with Rev. Rhuben O. Aga officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City from Wednesday until Thursday noon.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, Ansel and Walter of Story City and Donald of Iowa City; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Harms of Allison, Mrs. Marie Risdal of Newton, Mrs. Helen Jacobson of Titusville, Florida and Mrs. Theola Clark of Washington, D. C.; 19 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five brothers, Arthur of Gilbert, Elmer and Ben, both of Story City; Severt of Lake Park, Iowa and Palmer of Folsom, California and one sister, Mrs. Aadne Stokka of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
