Obituary

Charles Tressler, son of Daniel and Maggy Tressler was born in Stephenson county, Ill., on January 4, 1869. He came to Iowa in a covered wagon with his parents when he was four year of age, the family going on a farm three miles west of Story City, Ia. It was here that he grew to manhood. He received his schooling at Center school south and west of Story City.

On March 2, 1883 he was united in marriage with Nellie Neal Heers, the couple took up housekeeping at the Tressler farm where they lived as a family for the long span of 51 years. In the fall of 1943 they moved to their home in Story City where they continued residence until death broke up the earthly ties. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary only last year.

Four children were born to this union. Howard died in infancy, and Burnice passed away on January 20, 1947. Surviving are Maurice Tressler of Marshalltown and Gladys Tressler Johnson of Story City, and his beloved companion, who lived these many years with him. There are also seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Tressler will be remembered by his own loved ones as a good husband and father and by the others as a good neighbor and friend. He had always enjoyed remarkably good health, until, because of advanced age, he began slowly to decline. He was bedfast for only a number of weeks. On last Friday, October 16, 1953 he passed quietly to his eternal reward. He had reached the age of 84 years, 9 months and 12 days. May the comfort of God rest upon the mourning hearts.
