ERNEST BHEND

Ernest Bhend, 87, retired farmer formerly of Rt. 2, Nevada, died Tuesday at North Grand Care Center.

Born Feb. 26, 1885 in Aeschi, Canton Bern, Switzerland, he came to the United States as a youth. He farmed and ranched in Colorado, Nebraska, Arizona and Iowa. Mr. Bhend married Mrs. Louise Schadegg Jan. 30, 1939, in Harrisburg, Nebraska. He was a member of Farm Bureau and the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 1126 Clark, Ames, his son, Dr. David Bhend of Joplin, Mo., two grandsons, a step son, Maj. (Ret.) Donald S. Schadegg of Walnut Creek, California, and four step grandchildren.

Honoring Mr. Bhend's request, his body will be cremated and the ashes scattered on his farm in Mildord Towsnhip. There will be no services.
