DEATHS

Mrs. Ardyce Hoffman

Ardyce Eileen Furman was born March 31, 1928 near Kamrar, Iowa, the daughter of Alma and Lloyd Furman. She died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Saturay morning, Oct. 14, at the age of 44 years.

In 1935, she moved with her family to farm south of Story City. She attended the Willow Grove rural school and graduated from the Story City High School in 1946.

She was a confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City.

On Oct. 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leslie Hoffman. They established their home on a farm southwest of Story City, where the family still reside. To this union four children were born.

Ardyce was employed as a bookkeeper at the Story City Cooperative Grain Company until taken ill four years ago she contributed to the community and church life by her participation in musical groups.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiated and Pastor James Smith of Duluth, Minn., brother-in-law of Mrs. Hoffman spoke in behalf of the family.

Leroy Hill of Des Moines sang "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind" and "Breathe On Me Breath of God." Mrs. Harold Olson was organist.

Burial was in the Center Cemetery south of Story City.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her husband Leslie, four children Mrs. Marsha Craig of Nouma, La., Ron in the U.S. Marines, Camp Pendleton, Calif., Diann Furman and Don Hoffman at the home, two grandchildren Christine and Melanie Craig, her mother, Mrs. Alma Furman of Story City, three brothers Lyle Furman of Allerton, Donald Furman and Eugene Furman of Ames and two sisters, Mrs. Leila Smith of Duluth, Minn. and Mrs. Muriel Stone of Ames.

Her father preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1960.
