EDWARD W. MILLS

McCALLSBURG--Funeral services for Edward W. Mills were held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1959 at 2:00 p. m. at the McCallsburg Presbyterian church with Rev. James Thomson in charge. Interment was in the Warren Township cemetery south of McCallsburg.

Music was by Mrs. Frank Nail and Miss Catherine Craig with Mrs. Herbert Eddy presiding at the organ. Flowers were cared for by Miss Cleo Tett and Mrs. Henry Mehlow.

Casket bearers were Wesley Springer, John Hauptly, John S. Caltvedt, Carl Twedt, Jeffrey Hougen and Carl Handeland.

Life Sketch

Edward W. Mills, son of Dr. and Mrs. D. G. Mills, was born April 20, 1893 at Colo, Iowa and died Jan. 31, 1959 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital at Knoxville, Iowa at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. D. G. Mills and Sarah L. Mills, two brothers, John C. Mills and Guy W. Mills and one sister, Alta Knutson. He is survived by one sister-in-law and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He enlisted in the American Expeditionary Forces of the United States Army in April of 1918 and was engaged in combat in World War I. He was discharged in 1920.

He was a life long member of the McCallsburg Presbyterian church. For approximately the last 25 years was in the Knoxville Veterans Administration Hospital.
