Funeral Services Held Here Saturday for Mrs. Charles Fantz
Funeral rites for Mrs. Charles Fantz, 70, which were held Saturday at Central Presbyterian church, with her former pastor, Dr. Jos. M. Kennedy, now of Estherville, in charge, filled the main auditorium of the church. Mrs. Armstrong was at the organ.
Floral offerings, which banked the bier in the front of the altar, were many and very beautiful, being mute testimony of the very high regard in which the deceased had been held in the community.
Pallbearers were selected from among the nephews of Mr. Fantz and the flowers were arranged and looked after by members of the Presbyterian church of which she had been a longtime and very devoted member.
Mrs. Fantz, whose maiden name was Marie Rowland, who died Thursday, was a native of Illinois, where she was born January 1, 1873, but came to Iowa with her family as a girl when they located at Ames. It was there she was married to Charles Fantz of Nevada on April 11, 1917.
They made their home first on a farm southwest of Nevada, later on the old Ben Fantz homestead, in the west edge of Nevada and for the past eight years on the Milford township farm, where she passed away after long suffering.
Besides her husband she leaves three sisters; they being Mrs. Dr. J. B. Dooley of Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Dudley Dooley of San Pedro, Calif. and Miss Velda Rowland of Pomona, Calif.
While her parents and other brothers and sisters are dead, she leaves a nephew, Thomas Rowland of Pomona and nieces Mrs. Helen Otis of Glenn Ellyn, Illinois, Mrs. Ernest Moore of Pomona, Calif. and Miss Margaret Dooley of San Pedro, Calif.
