THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, November 13, 1913, page 1. "OBITUARY - Ralph Kendig was born March 26, 1896, and died November 8, 1913, having lived seventeen years, seven months and twelve days. He was born and raised in Jasper county, Iowa, and five years ago this winter he consecrated his young life to God and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a loyal attendant at Sunday School and here his bright, cheering presence will be missed only second to that in the home, for of Ralph it can truly be said, "None knew him but to love him." He was ever a boy that gladdened his parents' hearts and as he grew to young manhood he exhibited those characteristics that make for noble manhood. During his short illness thoughtfulness for others marked his every action; and he so sweetly fell asleep in Jesus that it was only a passing quietly on. He asked those about him to meet him in heaven and folding his hands repeated the Lord's prayer and smiled and passed on. He leaves a father, mother and two sisters, but they have the blessed promise of meeting again where there will be no more parting. CARD OF THANKS - To those, whose heart and hands responded to our needs so untiringly during these sad days, we express our thanks. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kendig. Mable Kendig, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Kimberley."
