THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 28, 1935, page 1. "Marian Grace Johnson, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van V. Johnson, who died with diphtheria Wednesday, March 20, 1935, was buried Thursday afternoon in the Maxwell cemetery, where brief funeral services were held at the grave at 2 o'clock. The services included a duet, "Asleep in Jesus, " sung by Messrs. Clark and Dale John; scripture reading and prayer by Rev. W. M. Scheuermann, and Rev. B. H. Guthrie read the obituary and spoke words of comfort to the family and friends. Marian Grace Johnson was born at Iowa Sanitarium, Nevada, Iowa, April 23, 1931, and died at Broadlawns hospital, Des Moines, March 20, 1935, at the age of three years, ten months and twenty-five days. She was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Van V. Johnson, of northeast of Maxwell. Besides the parents, little Marian is mourned by six brothers and sisters, Miss Eleanor Johnson, of Ames, Bruce, Pershing, Amy, Virginia and Genevieve, at home. Marian was a singularly attractive child with a lovable disposition, brightening the home where she was so much adored. Her little life was like a ray of sunshine, spreading joy and gladness, but like a flower it blossomed and faded all too soon. CARD OF APPRECIATION - We wish to thank all our friends and neighbors for the many expressions of sympathy shown us in our recent bereavement. To the Phillips Community Club and all others who sent floral tributes we want to express our sincere thanks. These messages of sympathy were and always will be comforting. Mr. and Mrs. Van V. Johnson and family.
