WILLIAM T. HARRISON

CAMBRIDGE -- Funeral services for William Thomas Harrison were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Cambridge Bible Presbyterian church with the Rev. Alvin Sneller in charge.

Mrs. Earl McHone sang two hymns, "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. John Dyer. Dr. Rayburn also furnished music. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Raymond Robertson, Mrs. L. J. Martin and Mrs. John Scott.

Casket bearers were George Erickson, Wayne Heintz, Wrex Clawson, George Rubar, Orie Jones and Kenneth Wilson.

Burial in the Cambridge cemetery.

Life Sketch

William Thomas Harrison, son of David and Martha Harrison was born July 10, 1866 in a log cabin 8 miles northwest of Cambridge. His father died when Tom was only 15 months old, leaving him and his 10 brothers and sisters to be cared for by the mother.

He was married to Dora L. Palmatier of Ames on Nov. 8, 1885. Much of his life was spent in an around Cambridge, where he was recognized as an outstanding citizen and leader of the community. He held many public offices, including that of Mayor of Cambridge and Justice of the Peace.

Surviving are three sons, Leonard and Harry of Cambridge with whom he made his home and Eugene of Marshalltown; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Glidden of Ames and Mrs. Doris Kilby of Des Moines.

Two daughters, Metta and Dorothy; and two sons, Pearl and an infant preceded him in death. He is also survived by one half brother, Charles Shockley of Ames, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
