THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June 20, 1912, page 1. "OBITUARY - Charles E. Hilton was born near Maxwell in Polk county, Iowa, March 2, 1876, and died at Clarinda, Iowa, June 10, 1912, aged thirty-six years, three months and eight days. His parents moved to Maxwell in 1886, when he was ten years of age and he lived here since that time. He united with the Christian church in 1905, but before uniting with the church, he had been for a long time a member of the Endeavor society and active in many forms of the work of the church. Mr. Hilton has been sick for some time and had been at the hospital, but in spite of all that kind friends, aided by science, could do, he was called to answer the summons this early in life's day. His brother, Wm. Hilton went to Clarinda and brought the body to Maxwell, Thursday. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. C. J. Hilton, and three brothers, Wm. Of Maxwell, John of Rapid City, South Dakota and Thomas, of Cambridge, Iowa. The funeral services, which were attended by a large number of friends, was conducted at the Christian church in Maxwell Friday afternoon, June 11, 1912, by Rev W. H. Ilsley, of the Presbyterian church and the body was laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery." "CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the Woodmen, Royal Neighbors, Endeavor societies, the Missionary society of the Presbyterian church and the neighbors and friends for the beautiful floral offerings and kindness during our sorrow. - Mrs. C. J. Hilton and Family.
