CAMBRIDGE--Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Warfield were held Friday, August 1 from the Methodist Church at Maxwell with the Rev. J. E. McClellan officiating.
Burial was in the Iowa Center cemetery.
Life Sketch
Jessie Pearl Barker was the second daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Barker near Nevada, Iowa on March 6, 1890, and spent her entire life in Story County, Iowa.
As a young girl she attended the Jefferson Country School.
She was married on April 7, 1909, to Clinton Warfield in a wedding at the home of parents near Nevada, and to this union were born four children: Mrs. Louise Hill of Maxwell; Margaret, who died in infancy; Claude Warfield of Des Moines; and Evelyn Sparks of Maxwell.
The Warfield family moved to Maxwell in 1928 and there Clinton died on September 4, 1953. Mrs. Warfield then sold her home and went to make her home with her brother, Earl Barker of Cambridge Rural Route.
Mrs. Warfield began to fail in health the first of the year and had surgery at the Mary Greeley Hospital on April 25. It was learned there that she had cancer of the throat and on June 15 she entered the University Hospital at Iowa City, where she remained for six weeks of radium treatments. She returned to the home of her daughter Louise, where she grew steadily worse and was taken to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, where she died on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:30.
She leaves besides her immediate family four grandsons: Murray Hill of Denver, Colorado; Clifton Hill with the U.S. Navy, stationed at the Naval Hospital, Key West, Florida; Danny and Rex Sparks of Maxwell.
Two brothers: Earl Barker, Cambridge; Glen Barker, Hazleton, Iowa; and sisters, Mrs. Cora Huff and Mrs. Effie Hansen, both of Nevada.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and baby daughter were he parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Barker of Nevada.
She was a member of the Maxwell Methodist Church the past thirty years.
