THE MITCHELLVILLE INDEX, MAY 1934. "MRS. HARLAN HART. - Iva Lyle Byers was born March 17th 1907 on a farm north of Boundurant** and died May 23rd at the age of 27 years 2 month and 6 days. She spent all of her life in Polk county with the exception of nine months which were spent in Minnesota. She was married to Harlan Hart December 18th 1923. To this union was born four children, Phylles** Joy, Virgil Harlan, Ferne Coleen and Shirley Janetta. She leaves to mourn her loss her father and mother three sisters and seven brothers, her husband and three children, Virgil dying five years ago. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and leaves to mourn her loss many other relatives and friends. She had cherished many little poems and the following is one of them. THERE IS NO DEATH. E. Bulwer Lytton. "There is no death! The stars go down __ ___ upon some fairer shore. And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown they shine forevermore. There is no death! The dust we tread shall change beneath the summer showers To golden grain, or mellow fruit, or rainbow tinted flowers. The granite rocks disorganize To feed the hungry moss they bear; the forest leaves drink daily life from out the viewless air. There is no death! An angel form walks o'er the earth with silent tread; He bears our best loved things away, and then we call them "dead." He leaves our hearts all desolate, He plucks our fairest sweetest flowers; transplanted into bliss, they now Adorn immortal bowers, Born unto that undying life. They leave us but to come again; With joy we welcome them - the same, except in sin and pain. And ever near us though unseen, the dear immortal spirits tread; For all this boundless universe is life - there are no dead." "CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to thank all our friends for their kindness and sympathy during the illness and death of our dear Iva. Also for the beautiful floral offerings. We especially wish to thank Miss Ghormley for her kind assistance. - The Hart and Byers families." **Editorial note - spelling used is from the original newspaper article. Bondurant is the correct spelling.
