MARTIN HAUSKINS
McCALLSBURG--Funeral services for Martin Andrew Hauskins were held on Thursday, April 17, 1958 at the Brouhard Funeral Home and at the Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg with the Rev. Perry R. Heller in charge.
During the service Mrs. Paul Egenes of Newton sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "My God and I." The floral offerings were taken care of by Mrs. Lloyd Ellingson and Mrs. Peter Egenes.
The pallbearers were Henry Aasheim, Obed Erickson, Osmund Ritland, Andrew Bergland, John S. Caltvedt and Joseph Johnson.
Burial was in the McCallburg cemetery.
Life Sketch
Martin Andrew Hauskins, son of Christopher and Julia Hauskins, was born February 26, 1892 on a farm in Story County, Iowa. He was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church on March 16, 1892 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He was united in marriage to Josephine Helland. To this union were born four daughters, Lillian, Mrs. Walter Kreuger of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Maurine, Mrs. Dwayne Risdal of McCallsburg; Darlene, Mrs. Marvin Malmin of Des Moines, Iowa nd Geneva, Mrs. James Majilton of Chicago, Illinois.
His wife Josephine died in 1924.
In 1926 he was united in marriage to Clara Severton. To this union were born two daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Louis Owens of Bettendorf, Iowa and Carolyn Marie.
He died April 15 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa at the age of 66 years, one month and seventeen days after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd, who died in infancy, his father, Christopher; his mother Julia; a baby daughter, Carolyn Marie and his wife, Clara.
Other survivors are his sons, Joris and Harold Severtson of McCallsburg and Marion of Long Beach, California; four brothers, Oscar, Carl and Arthur of Cedar Rapids and Lawrence of Minneapolis, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Conlin of Oak Park, Ill.; Mrs. Margaret Krueger of Bellwood, Ill.; Mrs. Ann Armstrong of Long Beach, California and Charlotte, Mrs. Stanley Johnson of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, one great grandson and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Hauskins had been employed by the Story County Maintenance Department for 34 years. He retired in the fall of 1957.
Mr. Hauskins was a member of the Bethany Congregation and served as a deacon of the church. He will be greatly missed by the congregation and his family and friends.
