OMAR TEGLAND
STORY CITY--Funeral services for Omar Tegland were held Friday afternoon, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p. m. in the St. Petri Lutheran church, Story City, following the prayer service in the church chapel.
The Rev. Orville Sanderson of Trinity Lutheran church, Ellsworth, officiated. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Robert Lekwa, who sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Den Store Hvide Flok." Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leonard Nelson, Arnold Johnson, Arlen Haugland, Milford Johnson, Harvey Jorgenson and Ben Mortvedt.
Life Sketch
Omar Theodore Tegland, son of L. O. and Bertha Tegland, was born Sept. 14, 1892 near Eagle Grove and died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Feb. 25 at the age of 65 years, five months and eleven days. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Eagle Grove and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City.
On Jan. 11, 1917 he was united in marriage to Millie Ersland of Story City by the Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. To this union three children were born: Emery of Ellsworth, LeRoy and Eleanor, both at home.
Mr. Tegland had lived in the Story City community since he moved with his parents from Eagle Grove in 1894. He was engaged in farming five miles south of Story City until he and his family moved to a farm six miles north of Story City in 1940.
His wife, Millie, preceded him in death Sept. 5, 1952.
Survivors are three children, Emery, LeRoy and Eleanor; three grandchildren; Beverly, Marjorie and Bruce Tegland; three brothers and two sisters, Milford Tegland, San Francisco, Alden Tegland, Los Angeles and Rudolph Tegland of Oxnard, Calif., Mrs. Harold (Edythe) Bryam, East Lansing, Mich. and Mrs. Lloyd (Mabelle) Schollmeyer of Ames, Iowa.
