Collins, May 7--Funeral services for the late Mrs. S. A. Carr who passed away Saturday afternoon at her home southeast of Collins were held from the local Church of Christ, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Henry Esch in charge of the services.
Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson and Mrs. A. L. Pitcher with Mrs. Hugh Fertig as accompanist sang, "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Rock of Ages." The flowers were very beautiful and were in such abundance that they banked the front of the church. They were arranged at the church and grave by Mrs. Ora Hanson, Mrs. Sam Hyatt and Mrs. O. N. Serbein.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, the casket bearers being K. W. Tomlinson, S. W. Inman, S. T. Hyatt, L. A. Douglas, Leland Wooters and Allan Hobson.
The services were largely attended. Many relatives and friends from a distance were present, all by their presence testifying to the love and respect in which the deceased was held.
The ushers for the service were Ben Caulkins and Jack Fertig. Mrs. Carr was the former Maude E. Harris of Des Moines and was born June 8, 1884. After her marriage to Stephen A. Carr, they established their home on the farm southeast of Collins and this community has been their home since that time. She made many friends over the years and they truly mourn her passing.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. David Mulcahy) of Des Moines, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Frank McCaddon of Peoria, Ill., and a number of more distant relatives all of whom were present for the services.
