MRS. FANNIE GRAVES

McCALLSBURG--Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Graves of McCallsburg were held Monday at 3:00 p. m. from the McCallsburg Presbyterian church with the Rev. D. B. Jafvert of Grundy Center officiating, assisted by the Rev. Perry Heller.

Casket bearers were Roger Menzel, Herbert Eddy, Owen Fincham, Forrest Rasmusson, Gene Morris and Dale Fincham.

Mrs. Herbert Eddy, organist accompanied Mrs. Robert Lounsberry and Mrs. Dale Fincham, who sang "Sweet Will of God" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. James Poulter and Cleo Tett were in charge of the flowers. There were many memorial gifts to the church.

Burial was in the McCallsburg cemetery.

Life Sketch

Fannie Mae Graves, daughter of Ezra and Anna Askew Graves* was born March 12, 1874 in Rooks Creek Township, Ill., and died at the Story County Hospital at Nevada at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 29 days.

At an early age she joined the Methodist church, which she continued to attend until moving to Iowa. She taught in the rural school in the county.

Aug. 11, 1897 she was united in marriage to Arthur G. Graves. To this union were born two children, both of whom died in infancy.

In 1901 they moved from Illinois to a farm north of McCallsburg, in that same year they became active workers of the McCallsburg Presbyterian church. In the spring of 1936 Mrs. Graves moved to McCallsburg where she lived until going to the hospital.

She taught Sunday school, held offices in Dorcas and Missionary Societies, member of the Presbyterain Women's Organization and for some time was Sunday school supt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two children and a brother, Charles.

Survivors are her brother, Walter Askew, Fairbury, Ill., a sister, Ida Askew of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and two nephews, Eldon Askew of Fairbury, Ill., Carlos Askew of Santa Barbara, Calif. and a host of freinds.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The parents of Fannie Mae Graves were Ezra Askew and Anna Horine. The article is in error stating her parents last name was Graves.
