CAMBRIDGE--Funeral services for Ole Severeid were held Monday, Sept. 9, at 2 p. m. from the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cambridge with Rev. Harry Stoutland officiating. Mrs. Alexander Egeland and Mrs. D. E. Ryerson sang two hymns, "The Love of God," and "God Will Take Care of You" accompanied by Waneta Wee. Mrs. Elsie Webb and Mrs. Mathilda Hill had charge of the flowers.
Life Sketch
Ole Louis Severeid, son of John and Elizabeth Severeid, was born on a farm southeast of Huxley, Iowa, on March 10, 1872 and died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 19 days.
On Dec. 9 1897, he was united in marriage to Martha Weeks at the Palestine Lutheran church near Huxley. To this union nine children were born of which two sons preceded him in death in infancy.
Surviving are his wife, Martha, two sons John of Cambridge, and Lawrence of Des Moines; five daughters, Edith Richardson of Buffalo Center, Rhoda Nervig of Polk City, Wilma Lewis of Cambridge, Irene Anderson of Radcliffe, Myrtle Anderson of Thompson, thirty grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.
They transferred their membership from the Palestine to the Nazareth church shortly after moving to Cambridge in July 1926.
Casket bearers were six grandsons, Robert Anderson, Larry Severeid, Orvis Anderson, Orin Lee, Reece Severeid and Donald Nervig.
Burial was in the Palestine cemetery.
