Sheldahl Funeral Rites Held At Slater Church
SLATER: Funeral services for Mrs. Maytie Sheldahl who passed away Friday morning, Jan. 25 were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home and at 2 p. m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran church. Rev. Leo Bjorlie was in charge.
Mrs. Russell Childs of Ames sang two solos "Blessed Assurance" and "Beyond the Sunset" at the funeral home. During the services at the church Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Accola sang a duet, "No Shadows There" and Mrs. Selmar Westvold of Huxley sang a solo, "Behold the Host Arrayed In White."
There were many beautiful floral tributes and many gifts to missions in her memory. Pallbearers were Andrew Sheldahl, Andrew Estrem, Lewis Sheldahl, Roy Cline, Clarence Berhow and Randall Reinertson. Interment was in the Slater Cemetery.
Obituary
Matie Malinda Lundy Sheldahl was born Feb. 14, 1885 in Morris, Il., to Halvor and Helen Stenerson Lundy. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Lisbon, Ill. In 1900 she came to Slater with her parents. She was united in marriage to Joseph E. Sheldahl on Mar. 7 1906. The lived south of Slater until 1914 when they moved to a farm north of town. Her husband passed away on Dec. 2, 1943. Mrs. Sheldahl has made her home in Slater since 1946.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Harvey, Everett and La Verne.
She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Joyce Accola, Mrs. Darrel Cline, Mrs. Robert Cline and Herbert all of Slater, Milton of Ankeny, and Omar of Waterloo; nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Tollefson of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Ada Paulsrud of Westby, Wis.; three brothers, Eli Lundy of Mt. Vernon, S. D., George Lundy of Inglewood, Calif. and Silas Lundy of Estherville.
Mrs. Sheldahl was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church and it's Ladies Aid and a life member of the W. M. F.
