THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 9, 1899, page 5, column 3. Mrs. Gillespie, mother of J. F. Gillespie, died last Saturday night at her home in Nevada, the result of an attack of la grippe. She was over 80 years old and leaves a host of loving friends to mourn her demise. Funeral services were held Tuesday at ten o'clock and the remains were taken to Marshalltown for interment."
