THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, August 28, 1969, page1, column 3. "MRS. BESSIE GIBSON – Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday morning, Aug. 22, at the Maxwell United Methodist Church for Mrs. Bessie Gibson, 77, who passed away Tuesday at the Story County Hospital. Rev. Dale Ellsworth assisted by Rev. Walter Scheuermann, officiated. Jim Summitt accompanied by Mrs. Madeline Summitt furnished the music. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Lucile Eatwell and Mrs. Vera Viers. Casket bearers were Harold Long, John Osborn, Monroe Moody, Eugene Moody, Don Mathis, Louis Strother, Lester Stebbins and Lawrence French. Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery. Bessie Gibson was born on Oct. 23, 1891 to Charles and Jessie Patterson Randol near Spring View, Nebraska. She moved with her family to the Maxwell community as a little girl and spent the rest of her life here and graduated from the Maxwell High School in 1908. On February 22, 1911, she was united in marriage to Harry Gibson. They lived on farms in the community and had lived on the present farm for nearly 50 years. Mrs. Gibson was a teacher in the Sunday School for 60 years and was a faithful member of the Methodist Church for 50 years. She is survived by her husband, Harry Gibson; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Thompson and Mrs. Mary Conner and a host of other relatives and friends.”
