DEATHS

ADELINE TORRY

Adeline Torry, 84, of Collins died Thursday morning, Nov. 15, 1984, at Marshalltown Area Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Rev. David Vernon of the Collins Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Collins Christian Church.

Mrs. Torry was born Sept. 38, 1900, at Melbourne to William and Catherine Gallentine Sawtelle. She was married to Winfred Torry on Dec. 31, 1927 in Des Moines. He died in 1961.

They had a daughter who died. Mrs. Torry is survived by a grandson, a brother, F. L. Sawtelle of Marshalltown, and three sisters, Frances Sweeney of San Diego, Calif., Vera Laundner of San Diego, Calif., and Doris Doty of Crown Point, Ind.

Mrs. Torry grew up and was educated in Melbourne. After her marriage she lived in the rural Collins area for many years. She was a member of the Collins Christian Church and Rhodes Rebekah Lodge.
