From Nevada Representative January 15, 1902 (page 5)

--Charles Haviland, aged twenty two, died Monday morning of consumption at the residence of F. E. Kent in the south part of town, his funeral service was conducted by Dr. Bunce at the Cumberland Presbyterian church yesterday, and the burial was in the Nevada cemetery. Mr. Haviland was without relatives in this vicinity, but had a sister in Tipton and another in Colorado. Until late in the autumn he had lived for some time at H. C. Lowrey's. He had inherited the tendency to consumption and developed the disease rapidly. His premature decline excited much sympathy and called out many expressions of neighborly kindness.
