Funeral Services for Marshalltown Woman
Roland, July 2--Funeral services for the late Mrs. Sam Swanson of Marshalltown, former Roland resident, were held at Salem's church Monday afternoon at 3:30, with services at her church, the Elim Lutheran, at one o'clock with her pastor, the Rev. F. M. Norstad in charge. Rev. Norstad was in charge of the services here with Rev. Olaf Holen assisting. Burial was in the Roland cemetery.
Mrs. Swanson, who has been in poor health the past several years, passed away suddenly on Thursday evening from a stroke. She had entertained in the afternoon and her death came as a shock. Mrs. Swanson, the former Sadie Olson, was born on a farm northeast of town and grew to womanhood here.
In 1894 she was married to Sam Swanson and since that time they have lived in Marshalltown. Beside her husband she is survived by her daughter, Marian, now married and living at Salisbury, Md., who was present at the services. About fifty relatives and friends were here from Marshalltown for the funeral services.
