Funeral Services for Mrs. George Olson at Huxley Tuesday

Special to the Journal.
Huxley, Aug. 7--Funeral services for Mrs. George T. Olson, 78, who died Aug. 1, were held Tuesday afternoon. A brief service was held in the home northwest of Huxley at 1:30 p. m. and from the Bethany Lutheran church at Kelley, at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. R. Rorem in charge.

At the services in church there was a Norwegian vocal solo by Walter Christopher and a vocal duet by Mrs. J. J. Zimmerman and Mrs. Charley Finch. Rev. E. R. Rorem preached the sermon. The pallbearers were John and Telen Thorson, Leslie Wagley, Gerhard Olson, James Larson and Harold Sheldahl. Donations to the missions were given in memory of the deceased, by a group of neighbors and others.

Mrs. Ellen Bergitte Olson was born in Skjold Sokum, Norway, Jan. 21, 1858. Her parents were John and Bertha Wagley. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, in Norway, and was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church at Kelley since it was organized. She came to America about the year 1886. She was united in marriage to George T. Olson and they made their home on the farm which was her home at the time of her death. On April 18 she became ill from flu and other complications and on May 4 she suffered a paralytic stroke. She was bedfast since April 18 and gradually grew weaker. She passed away at noon on Aug. 1.

Her husband died in January 1917. She is survived by two daughter and two sons, Miss Yetta and Joseph at home, Mrs. Emma Wiese of near Petersburg, Texas, and Albert of Ames. She is also survived by a sister Mrs. Sarah Thorson of Cambridge, and two brothers Gunder Wagley of Hadley, Minn., Thor Wagley of Bondurant, and Ludvig Wagley of near Huxley, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents and two brothers, John and Tom, preceded her in death several years ago.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Gunder, Leslie and Robert Wagley of Hadley, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alsager and Mrs. Sarah Thorson of Radcliffe, Thor Wagley and Gunnar Sorhus of Bondurant, Mr. and Mrs. Telen Thorson of Ankeny. Among those from Huxley were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Monson, Mrs. Henry Hauge, Mrs. M. K. Johnson, Mrs. Millie Risvold and Lyle, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lande and possibly others.
