Funeral Services at Roland Friday for Jos. Hoversten
Roland, Jan.30--Funeral services for the late Joseph Hoversten, who passed away Tuesday at his home following a three-month illness, were held at Salem Lutheran church at two o'clock Friday afternoon, following a short prayer service at the home. The Rev. Olaf Holen was in charge and burial was made in the Roland cemetery.
Joseph Hoversten, son of the late Jacob and Dorothy Hoversten, was born on the Hoversten homestead southwest of town on January 6, 1889. He attended college at Red Wing, Minn. He was married to Angle Larson of Story City on September 27, 1912. He has been head of the city water and light department for the past thirty-four years. He was a quiet man and was well liked by everyone and he will be greatly missed by his many friends. He was a faithful member of Salem church and served in the capacity of usher for many years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Art Nyren of Lanyon and Miss Mazel, teacher in the Redfield schools, two grandsons, three brothers, Willliam of St. Paul, Henry and Elmer of Ames, and three sisters, Mrs. Barney Durby and Mrs. C. A. Fagerland and Mrs. Joe Anfinson of Turlock, California.
