From the Bloomfield, Iowa newspaper, January 26, 1933
John A. Pearson, son of Augustus and Elizabeth Pearson, was born May 1, 1857, at Troy, Davis county, Iowa, and died January 20, 1933. He spent his youth and early manhood at his birthplace.
August 1, 1899, he was united in marriage with Ida Shelton, of Bloomfield, who remains to mourn her loss. To this union five sons and two daughters were born. August of Anamosa, Hattie, Mrs. H.J. Darnell, of Nevada, Everett of Wayzata, Minn., Bertha, Mrs. Coy at home, Paul who died in infancy, Kirk, at home, and Bernard who is a physician at Bishop, California. He also leaves five granddaughters, two grandsons, a sister, Anna Grages of Pulaski, a large number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Person established their home on the old homestead where they remained until 1913 and since then with the exception of one year spent in Nevada, they have resided three miles west of Boone.
Mr. Person was always interested in the more serious things and united with the Methodist church in his youth. About 40 years ago he accepted the Seventh Day Adventist faith and he remained a true, active and zealous member. He studied and read much so was prepared to give a reason for his belief.
Brother Pearson walked to the best of his ability in his Savior's footsteps. His first thought was of others. He was a friend of young and old. Even in his last illness he often reminded those who cared for him, that they must get their rest. He lived a quiet, unassuming life but all who came in contact with him respected and admired him. He made friends wherever he went and will be missed by all who knew him as well as the immediate family.
We are assured he has made his peace with God and awaits the call of the Lifegiver.
