Final Rites for Pioneer Maxwell Woman Held Sunday

Maxwell, Sept. 3 -- Funeral rites for Mrs. A. F. Pearson, 80, were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church. The service was in charge of the Rev. H. G. Darling, pastor of the local Church of Christ.

With Mrs. Arthur Hale at the piano, a quartette composed of Mrs. Harold Mohler, Mrs. Miles Coo, Mrs. C. I. Kirk and Mrs. H. C. Larsen sang "Whisperin Hope" and "God Will Take Care of You." Mrs. Mohler sang as a solo, "Under His Wings."

The floral tributes were very beautiful and were arranged and carried by Mrs. Forest Cooper, Mrs. Guy Cooper and Mrs. Dan Peters.

The casket was carried by the husbands of the granddaughters and one grandson Miles Pearson, Harold Hopkins, Wendel Van Hook, Keith Meyers, Clark Martin and Max Sauerman.

The minister read the following obituary:

"Florence Emaline Case Pearson was born June 24, 1861, at Del--, Ia. and was called from her home in Maxwell, Aug. 28, 1941. She was one of a family of five, was the last surviving member of the family of Peter and Ellen Case. She had lived in and around Waverly and Manchester, Ia. until after her marriage to Addison Fawcett Pearson, June 1, 1879 at Waverly.

"They were known as early pioneers of the Maxwell community where they made their home except for short intervals spent in Eureka Springs, Ark., which was for the benefit of Mrs. Pearson's health. The couple had the joy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary together.

"Mrs. Pearson was a member of the local Methodist church being baptized about the year 1890. She leaves their seven children, namely, Harlan C. Pearson, Mrs. Merlie Couch, Ned Addison Pearson and Helen Pearson of Maxwell, Frank Miles Pearson of Eldora, Mrs. Carol Cloud Rolla, Mo., Mrs. Max Sauerman, Des Moines and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, as well as a great number of friends and neighbors.

Interment was made in the family lot in the Maxwell cemetery.
