Funeral Services Friday Afternoon For Dr. W. M. Trotter
Maxwell, Feb. 2--Services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Dr. William M. Trotter, a resident of Maxwell the past 37 years who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines from a heart attack.
The Presbyterian church was well filled with relatives and friends paying a last tribute of respect to their physician and friend. Piano music preceded and closed the services. Mrs. Ray Gooden soloist sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mr. Gerton Nelson, accompanist at the piano.
The Masonic lodge had charge of the services conducted by Past Master O. F. Strombeck and Rev. G. H. Hulsebus, pastor of the church read the scripture and delivered the sermon. Serving as casket bearers were members of the Masonic order Dan Erb Thompson, R. J. Martin, R. B. Bullard, W. G. Joor, James Ward and Jesse Parr.
Floral tributes of love and esteem surrounding the bier were many and most beautiful. Burial was made in the Brethren cemetery three miles south of Maxwell.
Rev. Hulsebus read the following brief life sketch William M. Trotter, son of Alexander and Eliza Trotter, was born Sept. 17, 1880, at Eddyville, Iowa. He graduated from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1905. Practiced medicine in Maxwell since 191 was a captain in the army during first World War and had served in the army in that same capacity since the end of World War I. He continued his practice here except the past seven years during which time he was a medical advisor for two years in the U. S. Veterans Administration in Des Moines, continuing his home here. He was also a member of A. F. & A. M. Lodge No. 455, as well as the O.E.S. chapter, of Maxwell.
