Funeral Services For Mrs. Etta Mills Held in Maxwell

Maxwell, Feb. 18 -- The body of Mrs. Etta Wood Mills, widow of the late Rev. Wilson Mills who passed away on Thursday, February 7, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Rummel at 3700 Agnes avenue, Kansas City, Mo., was shipped here for burial arriving on Sunday morning, Feb. 10.

The last rites were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the local Church of Christ with the pastor, the Rev. Stanley Mahannah, officiating. Three hymns were sung: "When They Ring those Golden Bells for You and Me," "In the Land Where We Never Grow Old," and "Sunrise," was sung by Mrs. Ray Gooden, soloist, with Mrs. Arthur Porter, accompanist at the piano. Pall bearers were Charles Ray, Guy Cooper, C. I. Kirk, E. R. Bell, Glen Scott and Will Warren. The following life sketch was read at the service.

Ida Henrietta Wood, daughter of Jesse R. and Juliet E. Wood, was born on the family homestead north of Maxwell, December 7, 1865 and departed this life February 7, 1946. She grew to young womanhood in the Maxwell community and was married to Wilson Mills, September 4, 1890. After their marriage they attended Central college at Pella and later made their home at Monroe Ia, where their daughter Ruth was born. Mr. Mills held various pastorates in Colorado, Iowa and Missouri, establishing their residence in Kansas City, Mo., about 30 years ago where Mr. Mills departed this life February 25, 1928. Since that time Mrs. Mills made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rummel. Beside her daughter she leaves two grandchildren, Darwin Rummel of Chicago and Virginia Towson of Wichita, Kans., and two sisters, Mrs. Anna King of Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Edith McClintock of Maxwell.

Burial was in the family lot in Maxwell cemetery.
