Funeral Services Held Here Sunday for Howard Wade
Funeral rites for Howard Milton Wade, 51, who died at his home southwest of Zearing early Thursday morning, were held at the Methodist church in Nevada Sunday afternoon with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge. The church was filled with relatives and friends of the deceased.
Pallbearers were George Meiman, Frank Meiman, Patrick Carmody, William Eddy, John Carmody and Clark Elwell, all neighbors and friends.
The songs were by Mrs. Nail and Mrs. Reid of McCallsburg, with Mrs. Irene Dobson at the organ. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Margaret Carmody and Mrs. Cecelia Meiman.
Burial was in the family lot in the cemetery at Iowa Center.
The following brief life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister.
"Howard Milton Wade, son of Joseph and Effie Wade, was born at Hagerston, Md., Feb. 15, 1889. At the age of nine, he came with his parents to Iowa and settled at Grand Junction, where he grew to manhood.
"Later he came to Nevada and worked near here and Colo. On Nov. 24, 1909, he was united in marriage to Altha Vincent of Maxwell and to this union was born one child, Doris, now Mrs. Robert Evans of Nevada. After their marriage they settled on a farm north of Iowa Center and have since made their home in Story county with the exception of a few years.
"He departed this life Thursday morning at his home near Zearing, Aug. 1, 1940, at the age of 51 years, 5 months, 16 days.
"He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, daughter Doris (Mrs. Robert Evans) of Nevada, his father and mother one brother Albert and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Frey, Mrs. Cora Seirles [should be Surles] and Mrs. Margaret Bradford all of Des Moines other relatives and a host of friends. One sister, Annabelle, preceded him in death 11 years ago.
"Howard was a good husband and neighbor, kind to all those about him, patient in long suffering."
