WOOD FUNERAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON

DECEASED WAS NATIVE DAUGHTER OF STORY COUNTY

Funeral services for Mrs. E. L. Wood, 67, who died at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., Tuesday evening, February 17, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Central Presbyterian church after which interment was on the Stultz family lot in the Nevada cemetery.

Prayer and the sermon were by her pastor, W. O. Benthin, there was one song by Mrs. W. W. Shaffer and a committee from the Ladies Aid of the church assisted with the flowers.

There was a large group of relatives and friends here from a distance to attend the services and large and representative attendance of loyal neighbors and friends and member of the church congregation.

In the obituary read by her pastor, it was said

"Mrs. Wood was a member of this church and of several of its auxiliary societies for women. In a quiet way she lent an assisting hand to people in need here and there. In this way her days have blessed and will continue to bless whose who were dependent upon quiet Christian support. This church being used to her regularity of attendance likewise cannot but miss her. But as God had given and God has taken her we say "Thy will be done."

Ida Alice Wood, daughter of Daniel L. and Harriet Stuntz, was born on September 12, 1863, in Milford township, Story county, Iowa. Not only was she a pioneer in this vicinity but here she made her home throughout her days.

She was married to E. L. Wood on Christmas, 1907, and together they made their home in Nevada.

Although she had not been entirely well for some time the seriousness of her affliction was hardly appreciated, as she was not the kind that complained to others of her troubles. In a self-forgetful way she ministered to the needs of her husband, bringing him back to strength after a trip to Rochester. A little over a week ago with her husband they returned to Rochester, Minnesota, where she went through the clinic when the gravity of her illness was revealed.

A minor exploratory operation was performed but it was learned that her remaining days could be few. On the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17, she passed away.

Besides her husband, E. L. Wood, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. O. H. Shaw of Chico, Calif., and a brother, George H. Stultz of Winterset, Iowa. There are likewise a number of other, more distant relatives to mourn her departure, in addition to the unrelated friends who will miss her.

Both the sister and brother, with their families were here for the funeral, as were relatives of Mr. Wood.
