THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 26, 1899, page 1, column 2. "Neighborhood News - John Fry's father died Sunday morning."

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 26, 1899, page 5, column _. "James A. Fry, an old citizen of Nevada twp., living about six miles southeast of Nevada, died on Saturday last, Jan. 21, 1899, after an illness of several months, in the eight-first year of his age. His birthplace was Kentucky, but his young manhood was spent near Green Castle, Ind. He came to Iowa in 1846, and lived for several years in Jasper county. He then came to Story county and spent the remainder of his life here. The funeral took place on Tuesday at the Hickory Grove school house, and was conducted by Rev. Ferguson, of this place, assisted by Rev. Beecham, of Gilbert Station. Mr. F. was an excellent man, highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends. He was the father of John Fry, of Iowa Center, and of A. T. Bowen's first wife. The widow and a number of children remain to mourn his death."
