THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 3, 1901, page 5 column 2. "With deep regret we note the death of Mrs. Margaret Ellison, who passed from this life, Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock. The funeral services will be held at Iowa Center on Thursday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Pickford. We hope to publish a fuller account and obituary in our next issue."

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 3, 1901, page 5 column 2. "Mrs. Margaret Ellison died Tuesday morning, January 1, 1901, after a lingering illness. We are advised by Dr. Hatcher, who had the case in charge, that a post mortem** was held by Drs. Smith, Hatcher, Scott and Winsett which proved beyond a doubt the trouble to have been cancer of the stomach." **Editorial note - spelling used is from the original newspaper article.

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 10, 1901, page 1, column 5. "OBITUARY - ELLISON. - Margaret Bishop was born April 13, 1836 in Henry Co. Indiana. In 1838, with her parents moved to Davis Co. Iowa, to reside. She was married to Milburn Ellison on July 18, 1852, in Henry Co. Iowa. In 1856, they came to Story Co. Iowa, and have resided here on the same farm up to the time of her death, which occurred on January 1, 1901. Her age was 64 years, 8 months, and 18 days. The cause of her death was cancer of the stomach and liver. The disease was first noticed some five years since, and though its effects were felt and known at the time, yet, it was only during the past two years principally that her decline in health was apparent to herself, her family and her friends. With her husband she spent last winter in Colorado, for rest and treatment but without any benefit, and since….July had been confined to the …of late to her bed, suffering patiently…times with no apparent perman…and terminating as above noted…Three children, Mrs. S. P. …of Nevada twp., Dr. W. J. Ell…rado Springs and Asa K. E…with her husband…moved…deceased was a sincere…and exemplary…the respect and esteem…her best. The universal…was a good woman." Since 1861 she has been….devoted member of the United …cal church at Iowa Center. Her…testimony has touched many…during this period which has been …good, and for the uplifting of humanity. The last service was held on Thursday afternoon in the U. E. church at Iowa Center, conducted by the pastor, assisted by Rev. G. W. Mullen, P. E., and Rev. J. M. Bamford of Colo. A large congregation was in attendance, and interment was made in the cemetery at above place. The husband who has been thus bereaved, after forty-nine years of companionship, has the hearty sympathy of many friends."
