Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Mrs. Wm. Kinyon
Funeral rites were held Tuesday noon at the Adams Funeral Home at Ames for Mrs. William H. Kinyon, 78, who died on her farm home near Cambridge Sunday after a lingering illness. Burial was in the cemetery at Churdan.
The service was in charge of Rev. C. V. Pence of the Nevada Church of Christ. Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Ward Wright, Byson Safley, Neil Kinyon, Gerald Pearl, Verle Kinyon and Leo Kinyon.
A large group of relative and friends composed the funeral party going to Churdan and there was a short service held at the grave.
The following brief sketch of the life of the deceased was read during the service:
"Hester Laura French was born in Indiana Sept. 21, 1862. At the age of about three years, she moved with her parents, George and Hannah French, to Iowa and settled on a farm near Postville, Ia., where she grew to young womanhood.
"On Nov 21, 1878 she was united in marriage to William Henry Kinyon. To this union were born nine children, two girls preceding her in death, Blanche Irene and Mrs. Oscar Wright.
"She is survived by her husband, W. H. Kinyon and Mrs. Dora Pearl; Z. L. Kinyon, Lohrvile, Ia.; Mrs. Floyd Safley, Jefferson, Ia.; Gene Kinyon, Yates Kinyon and Clayton Kinyon, of Ames, Ia., and Wayne Kinyon of Cambridge, Ia., 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, also many relatives and friends, left to mourn her loss.
"She was of a sunny disposition and never tired of gathering her children and grandchildren about her.
"On Aug. 8 she took seriously ill. In spite of everything that medical skill or loving care could do, she grew steadily worse and on Sept. 22, she passed away.
"She united with the Church of Christ at Adaza many years ago, and has lived a Christian life."
