THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 12, 1899, page 1, column 3. "Neighborhood News - Elwell - The funeral of Uncle John DeLawyer was held in the Evangelist Church at this place Sunday and was largely attended.

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 12, 1899, page 5, column 3. "Services were held in the Evangelical church at Elwell last Sunday on account of the death of Mr. J. DeLawyer an old resident of this vicinity. Deceased was seventy-six years of age and leaves a companion and one daughter to mourn his demise. The services was largely attended and interment was made in Center Grove Cemetery."
