THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 26, 1903, page 7, column 3. "Dr. M. B. Cherry, of Ankeny, died at his home in that city Friday and was buried Monday. Dr. Cherry is well known to many of our citizens having formerly owned and lived on the farm now owned by W. J. Hartung, north of town. Dr. Cherry was a practicing physician at Elkhart and Ankeny for a number of years, but finally on account of failing health gave up his practice and bought the farm above mentioned, taking charge of the same himself; this he did in order to get out-door exercise thus hoping to better the condition of his health. He afterward sold his farm and went to Canon City, Colorado, where he was engaged in the ice business. He remained there for some time and returned to Ankeny where he built a fine residence last summer and would have been in condition to enjoy life, had not that dread disease, consumption, thoroughly clasped its grip on him, and to which disease he succumbed. The many friends of Dr. Cherry, in this city will learn of his death with great regret. He leaves a widow and a boy, who will have the sympathy of all in this their time of great bereavement."
