Funeral services for the late Atta Pearl Smith, who died Saturday afternoon a 4:00 o'clock at the home of her brother, Orrin L. Smith, were held from the United Brethren church in Collins, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Varce in charge of the service. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson, Mrs. Jesse Torry, Bradford Stevens and Milton Hale with Mrs. Thayer Derby at the piano. The songs were "Have Thine Own Way," "The Garden of Prayer", and "Good Night and Good Morning."

The floral offerings were very lovely and were arranged at the church and grave by Mrs. Merle Brown and Mrs. H. C. Westcott. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery on the family lot with six of her nephews acting as pall bearers. They were Kenneth Smith, Donald Smith, Marion Smith, Harold Smith, Richard Smith and Floyd Carver. The following brief obituary was read at the services. Atta Pearl Smith, eldest daughter of David V. and Victoria Smith was born in Story county, Iowa on May 3, 1890 and departed this life at the home of her brother, Orrin L. Smith, on Saturday afternoon July 6, 1946 at 4:00 p. m. at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 3 days. She grew to womanhood in this community and spent the greater part of her life here although the past five years she was employed in Des Moines.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a charter member of the Happy Birthday Friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Those surviving are two brothers Orrin L. Smith, Elmer E. Smith and one sister, Mrs. Wm. Carver. Eighteen nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. The closing days of her life were filled with intense suffering and death came as a great release.
