Last Rites for Mrs. Henry Bowers Held in Colo

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Henry Bowers, at the Colo Methodist church, with Rev. R. L. Russell pastor of Calvary Evangelical church, being in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Alfred Schneck, pastor.

A male quartett, of the following personal, Paul Henry, Mark Wilson, Wm. Lounsberry and LaVerne Horner, sang two number, "Ivory Palaces", and "In the Garden." A solo, "Sunrise Tomorrow," was rendered by Paul Henry, Mrs. Lois Dickinson accompanied at the piano.

Casket bearers were brother-in-laws of Mrs. Bowers. they were William Settle, Gust Hall, Don Bradley, Harry Postal, Albert Bowers and Elmer Tevebaugh.

The many beautiful flowers were cared for and arranged by Mrs. Pauline Olson, Mrs. Laura Wallace and Mrs. Lois Yeager. The great number of floral pieces were a mute testimony of the high esteem the community held for Mrs. Bowers.

Obituary

Mary Etta Dewey, daughter of Henry and Alice Dewey, was born in Triumph, Illinois, July 14, 1893 and departed this life September 19, 1946 at the age of 53 years, 2 months and 5 days in the Deaconess Hospital at Marshalltown. She had been in failing health for about 6 years and following an operation a year ago had never fully regained her strength, but bore it all so patiently.

She was united in marriage on June 19, 1912 to Henry Bowers. To this union were born 4 children, one son dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, two sons--Bernice and Lauren both of Colo, one daughter, Gueinevere of Marshalltown, her father, and one brother, Delbert Dewey of Colo and one grandchild as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.

At the age of 3 years she came with her family to Iowa moving to a farm north of Colo where he lived 4 years. Since then she has made her home in Colo. She was a graduate of the Colo High School in the class of 1912 and for many years she was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and also the Rebekah Lodge.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a thoughtful neighbor and though she is gone, the influence of her life will live on.
