THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 7, 1901, page 1. Column 4. "OBITUARY - Mrs. Martha Brouhard, wife of Martin Brouhard, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Rush, Thursday afternoon, January 31, 1901, about five o'clock, after a lingering illness of la grippe and the infirmities of age. 10, 1856, and made her home in Marshalltown, Iowa, until a little over a year ago when she and her husband came to Oberlin and made their home with their daughter, Mrs. J. W. Bush and family. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brouhard, three of whom are now living. Mrs. Brouhard was a kind, good woman. In the short time she made Oberlin her home she won a host of friends among both old and young. Though a feeble invalid, she ever had a bright, pleasant word for all. Her death was painless; a gentle, peaceful falling to sleep to waken where all is music and light. The funeral services will be held at the home at half past two o'clock, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. N. See, of the Methodist church. The Woman's Relief Corps, of which the deceased was a member, will have charge of the services at the cemetery, using their impressive ritual work. Word was received from J. W. Rush, who is in business at Akard, Missouri, stating that it was impossible for him to come, and the two daughter in Iowa are so situated that they cannot be present. Both Mrs. Rush and Mr. Brouhard are almost ill, having suffered severe attacks of la grippe recently, making this great bereavement doubly hard. To the bereaved husband and daughter and other relatives here and to the daughters in Iowa is extended the most sincere sympathy. - Oberlin Times. The deceased is a sister of Jesse Bowen, of this place.
