DEATH CLAIMS MARTIN SEVDE
After Several Months Illness, Martin Sevde Passes Away At Home Northwest of Town on Saturday Night. Funeral Held Yesterday.
Martin J. Sevde died at his home three miles northwest of here, on Saturday night, January 25, 1913, after having suffered several months from a cancer of the stomach. His condition has been critical for some time and the end was not unexpected. The deceased was born in Sovde, Stavangers Amt, Norway, Europe, on August 31st, 1858, and was 54 years, 4 months and 25 days at the time of his death. When a young man he came to this country and was later married to Miss Ingeborg Ritland, who now mourns his death with her five sons Olaf, Joseph, Otis, Clarence, and Arnie. He also leaves a brother, J. J. Sevde, at this place, and a brother B. J. Sevde, of near Randall, besides other relatives.
The funeral was held from Bergen church on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. G. Smedal preached the funeral sermon. A large number were present at the last rites for the dead. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery. The Record extends sympathy to the sorrowing family.
